I finally made my plans public on New Years and received very positive reaction from most people. Some took a little more work, but that was kind of expected.
I will be informing my boss Monday morning. We will see how that goes with asking for a LOA. Regardless of his decision, my last day at work will be March 25th. That will give me a full week off to get everything ready, and I will be hiking on April 7th, rain or shine.
I still have a lot of work to do, mainly final cold weather clothing selection and testing, and starting to get into better shape.
Still doing mental preparation and doubt that will ever be done or even close to it. A thru-hike is a big mental challenge. I believe that I am ready for it.
